Bed and Armchair Added

Hello and welcome to the blog!  I got the mattress in the van today.  It was a snug fit but everything worked out perfectly.  There were tools and hardware scattered all over creation but with the new underbed storage, it's now neatly tucked away.

There are a number of activities left to do in the coming days including some touch up painting, wiring, etc.  Normally it wouldn't make much sense to put the bedding down and then paint overhead... This is actually the old comforter and there will be a dropcloth as well.  The new comforter is similar but larger in size to allow for the fabric to drape on both sides of the bed.

Notice the microwave below the bed?

Here is a crude shot of what the front is starting to look like.  This chair is about 32-33 inches wide (by guess) and that's kitty Jennifer's stuffed "Princess" Valentine's Day toy (she's crazy about stuffed animals of any size)....  I need the readers' advice on something.  I'm thinking about covering the chair with a beige sheet to make it more neutral.  This picture is accurate as far as the colors.  Do they clash as-is?  To be honest, I cannot match clothes at all unless wearing khakis.  Thanks for any comments that way.

In the coming week there will be some more electrical work, touch-up painting, perhaps a shelf built forward of the chair, etc.  I will also be cutting a chunk of carpeting that will partially cover the floor and can be removed in a few minutes if need be.

Stay tuned for more pictures next week!  For now the van is going to a neighboring town for a Friday night fish fry...  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy and safe travels always!

  1. Thanks for the note and the kind words! You made a great point about seeing how everything comes together with the new comforter. If all else fails, I can live with mismatched... Oh, how good it feels to have a real chair in a cheap camper vehicle. :)

  2. Boy I wish I could fit a chair in my camper. If the colors in your new bedding are about the same I would do a beige cover for the chair, don't want it to be to dark in there. But like Bethers said maybe wait until all else is in. What color is the carpet? I am so enjoying your reno

    1. Hi Jo. I'm actually sitting in the chair right now after having slept in the van in the driveway. It was so warm and comfortable in here last night, thanks in part to the new insulation. I've learned how to position / scrunch a bit to sleep on the shorter bed. :)

The new carpet is sort of a two-towned beige. (OMG, that's going to show dirt though!). Like you, I'm thinking beige for the seatcover. To keep the chair from looking too boring, I'll probably buy a stuffed animal at the Goodwill to give a little character... until Jen-Jen sleeps in it! (Jesse was in the van yesterday and hid in the back... He hates the van for some reason.)

Thanks for the feedback. This project is a blast. The microwave is in place. Tonight the TV is getting hooked up. Just doing a little every day is making it more fun and less overwhelming. Take care! -- Brad

    1. Hi Laurie. It's very similar to the comforter in the top picture - maroon, dark green, mustard, etc. with the "lodge theme" (outdoorsy with bears). I like the color of the chair but think they might clash.
